Canyon Vista is a closed campus to all visitors on all dates of testing. Please do not plan any appointments those days even if it is not specifically a testing day for your grade level. We will not have the extra personnel to process incoming or outgoing students. Our focus will be on protecting the educational environment and we would not be able to interrupt classes. Although we will have hot lunches, our cafeteria will be working on a limited lunch menu and students will be eating in their testing room, so you may want to send your child to school with a lunch on these days. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all our children have the best possibility of success.
April 22 - Grades 6-7 Math
Grade 8 Social Studies
April 23 - Grades 6-7 Reading
Grade 8 Science
May 5-9 - Algebra End of Course Exam (EOC)
- REST THE BRAIN Your child will need plenty of rest the night before the test. Big tests require a lot of energy and eight to ten hours of sleep.
- FEED THE BRAIN Have a protein packed breakfast the morning of testing. If your child is not able to eat breakfast at home, our cafeteria opens at 7:45 am and serves breakfast at no cost the days of testing. Students will be provided a snack and water during testing, but are welcome to bring a healthy, mess-free snack from home as well.
- CLEAR THE BRAIN Encourage your child to pace themselves. It is a four hour timed test (unlike the old open ended TAKS test) but students should not need to rush. It is designed to be completed within those four hours.
- TEST TOOLS An extra pencil, a book to read and a water bottle if desired, are the only tools they will need.
