Round Rock ISD students showcased their linguistic talents in the 2026 National Spanish Exam, earning national recognition for their Spanish language proficiency. This exam is a prestigious online assessment administered by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, designed to evaluate vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening comprehension for students in grades 6–12. 600 Spanish learners across the district competed, and seven Round Rock ISD schools had students place in the Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze or Honorable Mention categories.
This year, Round Rock ISD has grown to seven campuses participating in this year’s competition: Canyon Vista, Cedar Valley, C.D. Fulkes, Chisholm Trail, Pearson Ranch, Stony Point and Westwood. Across the district, students brought home an impressive range of medals, including honorable mention, bronze, silver, Gold and Perfect Score, showcasing their hard work and commitment to learning Spanish.
Marie-Christine Douglass, Round Rock ISD’s K–12 World Languages Coordinator, commended the students and teachers for their achievements.
“Our students’ success on the National Spanish Exam is a testament to their determination, discipline and enthusiasm for language learning,” Douglass said. “These accomplishments would not be possible without the dedication of our teachers, who continually encourage students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence.”
Students at or above the 75th percentile qualify for medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Honorable Mention) and may apply for competitive scholarships, including the Global Citizen Scholarship and the Junior Study Abroad Program.
