BIG NEWS!! The Canyon Vista Middle School Honors Orchestra has earned prestigious national recognition through the 2026 Mark of Excellence project, a distinguished program that celebrates outstanding musical achievement by school bands, choirs, and orchestras from across the United States. We are excited to announce that the CVMS Honors Orchestra was selected as a National Winner, placing them in the top 25% of submissions in the String Orchestra Category and placing the ensemble among the nation’s recognized student musicians.
Congratulations to our Directors, Mr. Whatley and Ms. Hornbake, and to all of our Mustang musicians. We are so incredibly proud of our exceptional Orchestra and their caliber of musicianship!
Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month for August, Theatre Director Mr. Vigil. We are grateful for your selflessness, passion for the community, and leadership. Bravo!!

The coaches and cheerleaders of Round Rock High School are pleased to announce open registration for the Spirit Team Allstars of Round Rock (S.T.A.R.R. Cheer)! This team is open to special needs students 8 to 21 years of age from Round Rock and surrounding communities. Selected RRHS cheerleaders will coach the STARR Cheer program, practices and performances. Check out the flyer below for more information!

CONGRATULATIONS Ms. Cuevas for winning an Excellence in Education Pie Foundation Grant! We are grateful for the initiative you took to apply for a grant to create a mobile language lab to support our Languages Other Than English courses! This is great for kids and great for CVMS 🎉
Canyon Vista Middle School - Open House 2026-2027
Open House Dates & Times:
6th Grade: Tuesday, August 25, 6:00–7:27 PM
7th & 8th Grades: Wednesday, August 27, 6:00–7:27 PM
Parents will follow a modified bell schedule, visiting each class for 7 minutes with a 3-minute passing period. It’s a great chance to “walk a mile” in your student’s shoes!
Important Notes:
This event is for informational purposes only. If you have specific concerns about your child, please schedule a parent-teacher conference.
Student attendance is optional
Please bring a copy of your child’s class schedule. If needed, counselors will be near the Student Center to help you access a digital version.
Parking Reminder: Parking is limited. We encourage families to carpool or walk when possible.
